Interview with Dryntimy!

On March 27th, 2021 AnimalBot99 got to chat with Dryntimy. Dryn is a builder on Roblox who is known for a showcase The Farewell and also being a helping member of the Egg Hunt 2018. We hope you enjoy the interview!

Animal: Welcome to the interview, Dryn! So glad to be able to talk to you.

Dryn: Hey! Thank you for having me on this, I’m really grateful for being here.

Animal: So how about we just jump right in, what is it you do on Roblox?

Dryn: So, I used to be a developer on Roblox, I’m still working on some of my projects, but I have worked on egg hunt 2018, this was my last major project I ever worked on.

Animal: I remember seeing one of your showcase builds from about two years ago now, The Farewell. It was quite impressive I have to say, how long did it take to make it?

Dryn: Well, that project is definitely one of my favorites one, because it is very special for me, this “showcase” was made because I was really missing my cat, my cat died at that time so I felt like doing something about him, and it took like.. A month to finish it, it was really fast in my opinion, but I put 100% of my love into it while developing it.

Animal: Sorry to hear about your cat, I could remember when you were showing me around the place and you mentioned that. It is nice how you were able to make a memorial for the cat in a way. Has any other life experiences helped to motivate you in building?

Dryn: Yes there are a lot of motivation in it, some of my friends in the past helped me with building, and then I always felt inspired by it, also I play a lot of video games, I’m a gamer since I was just a little child, these games just got a special place in my heart, and they also inspired me a lot to build and show everyone what a game or a environment is, and how amazing and important they can be, and I got more and more into modeling, trying to keep myself on learning 3D, with Blender and also Cinema 4D (Which I still have a lot of problem to deal with it) but yeah, games are the major reason I did those things, they always make me feel like a child again, so I want to use all I can to become better and better at doing what I love.

Animal: Any big project plans coming up or just little side projects to keep busy?

Dryn: I’ve been planning some secret projects to show everyone, but right now I’m still working on some other stuff, in my real life, I have been really busy with real life business and I didn’t have the time to focus on what I love doing, but I’m doing my best this year to come back and maybe show off some of my new skills and maybe try to be part of a big project.

Animal: I have been checking your Twitter account and last time you posted was two years ago, do you have plans to post on that again with the secret projects?

Dryn: Yes! That’s one of my main objectives, I want to come back to Twitter and still share all of my skills with everyone, I really miss that! But I gotta keep myself focusing on those things first, otherwise my plans are never going to be as I expected, but that is mainly my point, to go back to developing and try to impress everyone.

Animal: I remember last time we really spoke, or hung out, you used to show me that Ro-Beats game a lot. Is it still your go-to game or do you have new favorites?

Dryn: Well, RoBeats is a game that got that special place in my heart, I love these kind of games and it reminds me of Guitar Hero, I know they’re two different things but they are still Rhythm games, and I just love this kind of genre, it’s so addicting and, the only thing that really keeps me playing Ro-Beats is my will of becoming better and better, I really wish to finish these hard songs.

Animal: Do you use that game any inspiration when it comes to building? Such as the functionality of the game or how it’s designed.

Dryn: I definitely like the style of the game, it’s simple but still looks really cool, I don’t know how the game mechanics would inspire me on anything, but I love them as well, maybe if I try to compete with them someday haha.

Animal: Well good luck if you ever decide to! I was holding off on this question and wanted to ask it now before we leave this topic, what did you help build when it came to Egg Hunt 2018?

Dryn: Well the Egg Hunt 2018 was something new and probably one of my best and constructive experiences ever, because a lot of things happened that time, I learned a lot and mostly I dealt with a lot of things, I helped them building some of the lobby, and few of the maps, the rest of the project I had to leave, because of personal issues, but I was really glad for doing just these things, I could’ve done more and more with the other maps, but just for being in a team with a bunch of amazing people, that was just enough, in my mind I knew that probably soon I would have that chance again, to show more of my talent, and maybe do it better next time.

Animal: What was the egg hunt best known for? I know it was using something new from Roblox, I cannot recall it right now though.

Dryn: Well, I don’t remember pretty much but we had a lot of new features, maybe even pets, but the world design was definitely something not new but still fantastic.

Animal: That is true, the 2018 Egg Hunt truly holds up as one of the best Roblox made games. Especially the music from BSlick which really helped to capture the worlds so much better. Any last points you wanted to say about the Egg Hunt and how it was working on it? Such as learning new building techniques to incorporate to your newest upcoming projects.

Dryn: Well, shoutout to Aotrou, he helped me on a lot of my building stuff, he was one of the best friends while I was in the project, also to Beeism and few others, it was really fun and constructive as I said before, these are going to remain in my mind forever, because some things I just knew but I didn’t know how it worked, I didn’t know it had limits to do it, so Aotrou showed me and helped me with it, as the limitation of blocks, or having too much union added, these things could literally lag the entire game, and I had no idea, because I never had any experience with my games lagging/losing FPS because of unions, so that and a lot of other stuff that was just surprisingly new for me, helped me improve way much more on my developer skills.

Animal: That is really cool to hear, I am sure we can all learn a lot from people who are willing to help us along the way. Anyways, we move to rapid question time (it is the only way we get people to read this) what is your favorite Roblox item?

Dryn: This is a hard question, I’d say Dominus but this would be too obvious, let’s talk about a Roblox item that really makes me feel nostalgic today, well there are two of them, I just love these two items: the first one is the Bloxy Cola, this time is really nostalgic and special for me, when I used to play games before, even in 2013-2014 the only item in most of the game I played was the Bloxy Cola, that item was always there, you could use it, you could show to everyone that you had one, it was so cool, maybe even get a group of friends, and all of the sudden, all of them would be drinking it too along with you, that was simple but still amazing to remember, and maybe my second favorite item is..I don’t know, I’d say Spider-Man’s mask but I also love that Springtime 2014 Hat, that hat had Sorcus on it, and I always thought it was cool, just because of the design, I used to wear it a lot back then, and then someday I just stopped wearing it, but still definitely one of my favorites.

Animal: Interesting stories, usually people just say two or three sentences. Next question, don8 pl0x.

Dryn: I’m too broke right now, but I’ll donate a hug, if that’s okay!

Animal: Friend?

Dryn: Well I’m very friendly lol

Animal: Heads or tails?

Dryn: I prefer Sonic

Animal: Oh, good answer. That went a whole different direction than I planned. So, any last comments before we have a send off to this interview? Such as advice to people just getting into building?

Dryn: Well, to everyone who really wants to be good at it, my main advice is, don’t give up, you can always do what you want, and try to learn with people around you, these people may have a bunch of good constructive opinions about you, so don’t be like I used to be, don’t be scared, show everyone your skills and try to improve them more and more, get inspirations, try to learn new things, learning is always good, and it will help you with you carrier in the future, I just wish the best for everyone who’s reading this.

Animal: What a fitting end to this interview, thank you very much for your time! Hope to talk to you soon!

Dryn: I’m the one who should have be saying thanks, I really enjoyed this interview, it was really fun to talk about experiences and things I love, thank you so much everyone and have a great day!
